Princess Kate's Worst Outfits As A Royal

Kate Middleton had many attempts to find a style that suited her perfectly and would become a fashion icon. Here we can see how Prince William's then girlfriend still struggled to find outfits that flattered her. Kate made one of her first attempts at coat-cut dresses for the wedding of Laura Parker Bowles (Queen Camilla's daughter) in 2006.

Today Kate masters both gala looks and completely casual outfits. That was not the case in 2005 when she attended the Gatcombe Park Festival. Although the look is not too bad considering the era, the necklace is completely out of place.

In the first years of her relationship with William, Kate used variations of this red outfit with a black hat. However, although she still wears the combination today, those boots break with the elegance that could have the coat with the matching gloves and bag.

In 2007 Kate was still experimenting with a bit of formal style without getting too old. In this case the cut of the jacket as well as the accessories make the look lose elegance.

As we can see, coats and dresses with this cut are one of Kate's favorites from the beginning. William and Kate were photographed in 2008 at William's Air Force graduation ceremony. The coat is noticeably larger and again those boots make her look a bit frumpy.

Here we can see a more casual Kate having a good time at a concert in 2008. The outfit itself isn't bad but it's not Kate's best.

For Christmas 2010, Kate opted for a short black and white dress matched with a black jacket and black stockings. The cut of the jacket and the length of the dress break the proportion of her body. Likewise, the black stockings clash with the type of fabric of the dress.

For this official visit to Wales in February 2011, Kate was already getting closer to her style. Here are just a few accessories too many.

The closer the wedding date approached and the more the eyes of the world were on the young couple, the more Kate put her heart into her outfits. Here again she brings a look more similar to what we are used to, however the finishes of the dress are too coarse for her elegant style.

This event a few days before her wedding in April 2011 was a disaster in terms of Kate's look. Not only the hairstyle was not the right one for the weather and the place, but the cut of the dress and the finishes did not fit with the image we would have of her.
