Mel B's real name is actually Melanie Janine Brown, who was born and raised in Leeds, England. By 1994, Brown, Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, and Mel C all responded to an advertisement for an audition at Danceworks Studios in London. When Emma Bunton joined the group, they eventually moved to Los Angeles and would become part of one of the most famous international pop girl groups ever.

When moving to L.A., their manager coined the name Spice Girls. By the time their debut album was released in 1996, it became an immediate mass success, being certified multi-platinum in 27 countries. The album, Spice, became the best-selling female group album of all time.
By 1998, the girl group was slowly splitting up. Geri aka Ginger Spice left the group, and by 2000, they all parted ways. So what is Mel B up to now? Well, she's done SEVERAL gigs here and there in the entertainment industry.
