- She was a part of the famous Spice Girls
- Learn more about her life and career
Spice Girls' Geri Horner was born Geraldine Estelle Halliwell on August 6, 1972 in Hertfordshire, England. Before she had started her singing career, Halliwell had actually worked as a nightclub dancer in Mallorca, as well as a presenter on the Turkish version of the game show Let's Make a Deal. Those jobs ended when she would meet a group of girls in the nineties...
Geri Halliwell: Spice Girls fame
Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, and Victoria Beckham responded to an advertisement looking for young women who were able to dance and sing, which would later also include Emma Bunton. Little did they know, they would become the best-selling female group ever!
In 1996, the Spice Girls released their first single "Wannabe", which placed number #1 on the charts in 37 countries. Other massive hits released from them include "Spice Up Your Life" and "Say You'll Be There".
However, Geri infamously left the girl group in 1998 to pursue her own solo career. She released three studio albums, Schizophonic (1999), Scream If You Wanna Go Faster (2001), and Passion (2005). Yet, Geri came back to join her ladies during the 2007 reunion of the Spice Girls, as well as for the 2012 London Olympics and their 2019 tour!
Geri Halliwell's career now
Since the mid-2000s, Geri stepped in as a judge for The X-Factor and Australia's Got Talent. She's appeared as a guest judge/presenter in other various shows, including This Morning, All Together Now, and RuPaul's Drag Race UK.
As of 2015, Halliwell has been married to a professional race car driver, Christian Horner. While Geri has a daughter with her former partner, screenwriter Sacha Gervasi, her second child was born in January 2017 with Horner.
Geri is also successful in the publishing industry, as she has a handful of children's books she's written, as well as two autobiographies.
We hope someday there'll be another Spice Girls reunion, and this time with Posh Spice!
