Shania Twain, whose birth name is Eilleen Regina Edwards, was born in Ontario, Canada on August 28th, 1965. She was raised in Timmins Ontario and started to pursue singing and songwriting at a very young age. By the early 1990s, she signed with Mercury Nashville Records, and her first self-titled solo album was released in 1993.

Her third studio album titled Come On Over was released in 1997 and it became the best-selling album of any genre by a female act and the best-selling country album, selling almost 40 million copies worldwide. Shania Twain's fourth studio album titled Up! was released in 2002 and reached certified Diamond status in the United States. After much success and fame, Twain entered a hiatus in 2004 which she later revealed that she had been diagnosed with Lyme disease and dysphonia which ultimately led to a weakened singing voice.

Shania has one son named Eja with her first husband. Eja was born in August 2001.
