- Take a look at his life and career here
Macklemore was born Ben Haggerty on June 19th, 1983 in Seattle, Washington to a humble Irish family. He had been interested in hip-hop and music from a very young age, even writing his own lyrics in high school.
Macklemore had been producing his own music for a while before he met future partner in crime Ryan Lewis in 2006. The two are an undeniably hard-working force that has earned billions of streams and multiple Billboard Hot 100 #1 spots! Their first smash hit "Thrift Shop" was the first song to hit the top of the charts without a major record label behind them since 1994!

They even won 4 Grammy Awards in 2014 for Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance! Macklemore apologized upon accepting Best Rap Album because he believed Kendrick Lamar was the one who deserved the title and later wrote a song "White Privilege" about the ordeal.
