Lorde has finally returned, and she's ready to enjoy the summer in her latest song "Solar Power"! On Thursday, the "Royals" singer— whose real name is Ella Yelich O'Connor— shared the upbeat tune with the world, marking her first new release in 4 years!

Lorde sings about enjoying summer in her new song

Lorde released her most recent album Melodrama back in 2017, which featured the uptempo hit "Green Light," as well as more moodier, introspective songs like "Liability". However, the now-24-year-old singer has decided to show yet another side of herself with "Solar Power," which sees her celebrating summer!

Singing playful lyrics like "my cheeks in high colour, overripe peaches/no shirt, no shoes, only my features," Lorde appears to be having more fun than ever. The music video for the song perfectly fits its upbeat vibe, as it sees her wearing a bright yellow outfit as she dances around a beach.

Lorde announces release of upcoming third album

Lorde also revealed she has more music on the way, and we won't have to wait much longer to hear it! "It's my divine pleasure to be introducing you, at long last, to my third studio album SOLAR POWER," Lorde wrote in a special email sent out to fans along with the song's release.

She then went on to say that the title single— which was produced by Jack Antonoff— is "about that infectious, flirtatious summer energy that takes hold of us all." The singer revealed that she made Solar Power in her home of New Zealand, creating "an entire cinematic universe" through the music videos.

Lorde also called the record "a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I'm outdoors." And while she may not have announced the release date of Solar Power, she encouraged fans to "look to the natural calendar for clues" about her latest album!
