Johnny Cash was born as J.R. Cash on February 26th, 1932 in Kingsland Arkansas. He possesses musical talent at a very young age. After he joins the Air Force and is assigned to a base in Landsberg, Germany, he forms his first band called The Landsberg Barbarians. On August 7th, 1954, John marries Vivian Liberto and they have four daughters: Rosanne, Kathy, Cindy and Tara.

In 1955, Cash meets a young country singer named June Carter. He begins an intense working relationship with her and that along with his constant touring and drug and alcohol abuse, Vivian files for divorce in 1966.

In 1955, Johnny Cash adopted his stage name "Johnny" and released his first two recordings with Sun Records: "Hey Porter" and "Cry Cry Cry." Two years later, in 1957, Cash became the first artist on the label to release a full-length album titled "Johnny Cash with His Hot and Blue Guitar."

Johnny and June get married in February 1968 and two years later they welcome their first and only son, John Carter Cash.

In 1969, Johnny Cash debuted The Johnny Cash Show on the ABC network, which ran for 58 episodes. Two years later, in 1971, he recorded the iconic song "Man in Black," which became one of his signature tracks. In 1975, Cash released his first autobiography, "Man in Black," which sold 1.3 million copies.

President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush presented Johnny Cash with the National Endowment for the Arts National Medal of Arts Award on April 22, 2002, in Washington, DC. Just four months after June's passing in May 2003, Johnny passed away at the age of 71. He was laid to rest next to June in Hendersonville, Tennessee. May they both continue to rest in peace.
