Troyal Garth Brooks was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 7th, 1962. He started singing casually as a child but his primary focus was on sports and athletics. He played football and baseball in high school and ran track and field.

It wasn't until 1985 that Garth began his professional music career by playing in local bars and pubs.

Garth Brooks Breakthrough Success

In 1989, Garth Brooks had breakthrough success. He released his first album which featured the song, "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)" which was a Country Top 10 success.

Other hit singles that followed were "If Tomorrow Never Comes," "Not Counting You," and "The Dance". The same year, Brooks went on his first major concert tour opening up for Kenny Rogers.

Garth Brooks: "Friends in Low Places"

Garth Brooks' second album was released in 1990 and it had the hit song, "Friends in Low Places" which remains a country classic to this day. In the '90s Brooks released many more albums and embarked on two world tours! In 2000, Garth Brooks announced his retirement and released his last album titled Scarecrow in 2001.

Garth Brooks Comes Out of Retirement 

In 2009, Garth Brooks came out of retirement to do his Las Vegas residency show called Garth at Wynn. He released a new album in 2014 called Man Against Machine and since 2018 he has been doing another stadium tour and released the 2020 album titled Fun and most recently the 2023 album titled Time Traveler.
