Alessia Cara was born Alessia Caracciolo in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada on July 11, 1996. She began her career when she was only 13 years old, posting acoustic covers of popular songs to YouTube. Her videos caught the attention of EP Entertainment and Def Jam Records.
