The big news were announced by Apple Music Sunday morning via the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. Fans are already over the moon about the prospect of seeing Usher live again. For most of us, his music galvanized the R&B scene of the early 2000s, and many are looking forward to hearing some of the classics. 

"It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before," Usher said, according to Variety. "Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon."

Usher will bring the heat one more time!

In a video shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, announcing his upcoming gig, Usher gets an urgent call from Kim Kardashian, who tells the musician about his headlining spot. Usher's performance will mark his second Super Bowl appearance. He previously performed alongside the Black Eyed Peas when the group headlined the halftime show all the way back in 2011.

But that's not all the big news for the day as far as the singer is concerned. Usher has also announced that his ninth album, 'Coming Home', will also debut on Super Bowl Sunday. This set marks his first new album since 2016’s 'Hard II Love', which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

Usher follows last year's performance from Rihanna, who publicly showcased her second pregnancy during the Super Bowl LVII halftime show in Arizona. Nearly 119 million viewers tuned in, but not everyone was happy with the performance.

According to records, the Federal Communications Commission in the United States received over 100 complaints after the broadcast, with many claiming the show was "overtly sexual" in nature, as TMZ reported.

It's unlikely Usher will have any controversy to his performance, since he has always been known for a relatively clean act. Since becoming a father, Usher has become aware of his public image, and his on stage performances have always reflected that.

JAY-Z, whose company will produce the halftime show for the fifth year, said in his own statement, "Usher is the ultimate artist and showman. Ever since his debut at the age of 15, he’s been charting his own unique course. Beyond his flawless singing and exceptional choreography, Usher bares his soul."

"His remarkable journey has propelled him to one of the grandest stages in the world. I can’t wait to see the magic," he said. Super Bowl LVIII will air live around the world on Feb. 11, 2024.
