That '70s Show's Wilmer Valderrama Reaches Out To Fans During COVID-19

A while back when the COVID-19 scare first put everyone on lockdown, That '70s Show's Wilmer Valderrama noticed a terribly sad vibe from the grocery store workers. He said they "seemed a little tired" and had "very different energy." The feeling was so palpable he felt compelled to ask an employee the simple question of how she was and he received a shocking answer.

The NCIS star said "Well Wilmer, thank you for asking. I know people show very different faces around here... People are really mean. People are being mean to us and I don't understand why. We're just doing what we have to do and what we can do in the moment." Apparently, when some items are out of stock the customer takes out their frustrations on the grocery store employees.

Wilmer was clearly shaken by her answer and in an interview with People he said: "We are so much f***ing better than that." He is extremely disappointed in the public treating essential workers like that especially since they are putting themselves at risk by exposing themselves every day to countless people and exchanging money and disinfecting everything for customers.

This interaction pushed him to start his new Instagram Live series 6 Feet Apart in hopes that "this wakes up our human side and allows us to have more empathy. I'm hoping it reminds us that we're better than our initial instinct. I'm hoping that those individuals that can relate to the hostility either on the receiving end or on the causing end, that they can reflect and look at themselves... Let's not ruin each other's days because of self-frustrations."

Wilmer gave plenty of examples of small things the public can do to make a positive difference like asking strangers and neighbors how they are and tipping extra to delivery drivers and people still working to make it known that we are grateful for putting themselves at risk for others.
