Danny Pintauro's Thanksgiving Accident

Former 'Who's the Boss?' star Danny Pintauro experienced a harrowing accident on Thanksgiving night while riding his scooter. He shared the incident on Instagram, revealing that while navigating a bike lane, he encountered unexpected obstacles.

"I was forced to choose between a van and a pylon," his post read. "The pylons hurt!! Have a terrible scrape on my arm and I was pretty convinced I had broken my arm. The next morning it was a whole lot better so I didn’t worry as much."

His choice resulted in a severe arm scrape and what initially seemed like a broken arm. However, the real trouble surfaced later when he began experiencing intense chest and stomach pain.

By Saturday, November 30, Pintauro's pain had escalated, prompting his husband, Wil Tabares, to rush him to the hospital. Medical tests revealed a stomach lining tear, leading to an infection and air leakage into his abdomen. Pintauro described it as "the most excruciating pain I’ve ever felt in my whole life."

The situation necessitated immediate surgical intervention, which thankfully went well. He shared that while the pain has subsided, recovery involves leaving a tube in his stomach for a few days to prevent complications.

A close call, indeed

Reflecting on the ordeal, Pintauro acknowledged the potential danger he faced, admitting, "If I had waited any longer, I could have died."

He emphasized the importance of heeding bodily signals. Grateful for the support from his husband and the medical team at Memorial Care Miller Hospital, Pintauro is now on the mend. Despite the setback, he maintains a positive outlook, even joking about receiving flowers during his recovery. He also reassured fans that his arm wasn't broken, offering a glimmer of good news amid the distress.

"The surgery went well and now that it’s fixed, the pain is pretty much gone away, although I’m still very sore," he said. "They just took the intubation tube out, but I have to leave another tube in my stomach for three days to keep removing the acids so as to not upset the stitches and repair they did. Which also means that I won’t be eating or drinking anything for the next three days."

He went on to thank his "wonderful husband" for staying by his side through everything, as well as the doctors and nurses at Memorial Care Miller Hospital, who are taking care of him.

"Unfortunately, it means that and any of the Book Nooks I was working on will have to wait a few more days so I will change the shipping dates to reflect. I hope that’s okay. This is my first major surgery I, first emergency surgery EVER but I kept it together. It was absolutely terrifying."

He continued: "If anybody might wanna send me flowers, I wouldn’t be opposed. Lol just kidding.I’m stressed, hungry, in pain and exhausted. Light a candle for me, okay?Ohhh! They did an X-ray of my arm and it’s not broken! So there’s one bright side."

Pintauro's career, marked by his role as Jonathan Bower in 'Who's the Boss?', saw him acting alongside notable stars like Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano.

After the series concluded in 1992, he stepped away from the limelight, only occasionally returning to acting. His recent roles include appearances in 'The Quarantine Bunch' and 'A Country Christmas Harmony.' Despite his recent health scare, Pintauro's resilience shines through as he navigates this challenging chapter.

Danny's accident is a good reminder:

Accidents at home tend to increase during the holiday season, as festive activities often lead to a rise in household risks. From decorating mishaps like falling off ladders while hanging lights, to kitchen accidents from busy cooking and baking, the holidays can be hazardous.

The chaos of preparing for holiday gatherings, combined with the excitement of children running around and the distractions of parties and family events, creates an environment where accidents are more likely to happen.

And, of course, homes are often filled with more guests, which can lead to more chances for slips, trips, and falls, especially with items like wrapping paper, tree decorations, or cords left out in high-traffic areas.

Also interesting:

The seasonal rush to prepare meals, set up decorations, and purchase gifts can also result in more accidents. In the kitchen, burns from hot surfaces, cuts from carving knives, and falls due to spilled liquids become more common. Overloaded electrical circuits from lights and gadgets add further hazards, especially if extension cords or heaters are used improperly.

So be safe, and enjoy your holidays!
