- 'Walker' is going off the air
- The reboot only had four seasons
- THIS is why it's getting axed
The reboot of the iconic 'Walker, Texas Ranger' will not return for a fifth season, leaving fans and the cast with heavy hearts. This article dives into the reactions, the gratitude expressed by Padalecki, and what this means for the future of everyone involved.
Howdy, Farewell!
It's a sad day in the Wild West of television as Jared Padalecki, our beloved Cordell Walker, announces the end of the trail for 'Walker'. The CW has decided to holster this modern take on 'Walker, Texas Ranger' after just four seasons.
'Walker' is one of just a few scripted series from The CW’s pre-Nexstar days that had a place on the schedule in the network’s current incarnation. The CW also has yet to make a decision on first-year drama 'Sight Unseen', which it co-produces with Canada’s CTV.
"Howdy y’all. It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you. #Walker will not be airing on #CW for a fifth season. It’s a tough piece of news to be sure, but we are SO thankful for the #WalkerFamily that has been built, both on set and off," the actor wrote next to a photo of his hat and badge.
Padalecki's message was filled with gratitude and love, not just for the cast and crew, but significantly for the fans. "Too often, we get to be the ones receiving the praise...we miss the opportunity to put it back where it belongs…WITH THE FANS!" he stated, emphasizing the unique bond formed with the show's audience.
The CW echoed Padalecki's sentiments, thanking everyone involved in the show's production, especially highlighting Padalecki's pivotal role. Cast members, including Dave Annable and Odette Annable, shared their own heartbreak and gratitude, marking the end of an era but also hinting at new beginnings.
"We want to thank the entire cast, crew, writers, directors and producers of Walker for their hard work and dedication over four incredible seasons. We also want to give a special thanks to star and executive producer Jared Padalecki, who has been a member of The CW family for over 20 years and was integral to some of the biggest hits on the network," the statement read.
Some members of the cast responded to the news by commenting on Padalecki's post.
With the series finale set to air on June 26, fans are gearing up for one last ride with the Walker family. Despite the cancellation, the spirit of the #WalkerFamily will undoubtedly live on, both on-screen and in the hearts of its dedicated fandom.
