Lady Gaga scared crew members
If you haven't seen Lady Gaga's portrayal of "Patrizia Reggiani," you must! The actress has earned some Oscar buzz around her role, and the actress went on to share that it wasn't for lack of trying!
Gaga opened up to Gyllenhaal about feeling "safe" in her art, despite people on set who were worried for her.
"The way that I feel safe is just that I feel safe being in pain. I feel safe in art. I almost think I feel safer with art than I do in life," she told him.
"When I did the bathtub scene, when I went under, they had to yell 'Cut' because they were like, 'Get her out of there!' I was fine," she said. "I can hold my breath for a long time. I’m a singer. I feel protected by art. I feel art has saved me my whole life."
Lady Gaga also went on to share that she's surprised the real "Reggiani" hasn't reached out to her, considering she's still alive and out of prison.
"I couldn’t not love her," she said. "I almost find it interesting now that I haven’t heard from her because she’s alive. I don’t know if she’s seen it. I don’t know what she thinks about it, but everyone around me said, 'I think this might be painful.'"
Gaga also shared with Gyllenhaal how much she has enjoyed watching his classic film, Donnie Darko.
