Tom Selleck is an American actor and film producer whose breakout role was in the 1980s series, Magnum, P.I. Selleck earned himself both a Golden Globe and an Emmy award for his role as "Thomas Magnum" in the show. During this time, he had also starred in the highest-grossing film of 1987, Three Men and a Baby.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Selleck and his family to Los Angeles growing up. While he attended the University of Southern California studying business administration, a drama coach proposed that he try acting. By his senior year, he dropped out of his university to attend acting classes at Beverly Hills Playhouse. Selleck would then receive a draft notice to serve in the Vietnam War, which he served in the California National Guard for from 1967 to 1973.

After the breakout success of Magnum P.I., Selleck would continue to star in leading roles throughout various movies and television shows, such as Friends, The Closer and Blue Bloods. Aside from his Golden Globe and Emmy win, Selleck also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1986. He and his wife, Jillie, reside in Los Angeles and they have a daughter together.
