Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift made no secret of their love when they were dating. Their relationship became public in June 2016, followed by a series of photos of them taken around the world. Hiddleston and Swift already seemed familiar with one another at the Met Gala in May 2016, as they took to the dance floor together.
At that time however, Swift was still in a relationship with the musician Calvin Harris. When the couple's split became known in June, it wasn't long before the romance between Hiddleston and Swift began.
Hiddleston and Swift seen around the world together
Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift didn't take things slow with their relationship. After only two weeks of publicly dating, the "Loki" actor met the successful singer's parents in Nashville.
Taylor finally met the actor's mother in England at the end of June. Trips to Rome and Australia followed, and the couple seemed inseparable. Tom and Taylor spent the 4th of July celebrations with friends at Taylor's mansion.
Hiddleston and Swift's relationship: true love or PR?
Hiddleston and Swift's love affair was very public at this point. Tom wore a shirt that said "I love T.S.," which couldn't be overlooked. There were some who accused the lovebirds merely of having a relationship for PR purposes, which Hiddleston repeatedly denied in interviews.
"Taylor is an amazing woman. She's generous and kind and lovely, and we had the best time. Of course it was real," the actor said in a 2017 interview with the magazine GQ.
Hiddleston and Swift's romance calmed down after this whirlwind world tour. After only a few months of dating, their separation was finally announced in September. The Marvel actor also told GQ that he and Swift just wanted to have a relationship that felt normal.
"A relationship in the limelight takes work. And it’s not just the limelight. It’s everything else," the actor said. "So we decided to go out for dinner, we decided to travel."
Hiddleston chose to focus on his career after Swift split
Hiddleston and Swift's relationship continued to attract attention long after their split. Today though, the star actor is fully focused on his career. As "Loki" he is considered one of the most popular Marvel characters, even though he's a villain.
Because of this, Hiddleston got his own series, reprising his star role of "Loki". Loki premieres next month, with episodes to be released weekly on the streaming platform Disney+.
