- Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello were a Hollywood power couple
- They split last year breaking the hearts of fans
- Vergara has now revealed the real reason why
About six months after the 'Magic Mike' actor, 47, and the Modern Family star, 51, filed for divorce, she set the record straight on what led to their breakup. "My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn't want to be an old mom," she recently told Spanish newspaper 'El País'.
"I feel it's not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that's not for me anymore."
Sofia's age was an issue
In a bombshell revelation that's got Tinseltown buzzing, Sofía Vergara, the sizzling starlet of 'Griselda', has just dropped a major truth bomb about her split from hunky hubby Joe Manganiello. The dishy details? It's all about the baby-making—or the lack thereof!
The Colombian beauty got candid dishing the dirt on why her seven-year marriage crumbled like a stale cookie. Vergara, already a mom to Manolo, from her previous marriage to Joe Gonzalez, is trading diaper duty for glam-ma glitz. "I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother," she declared.
And fellas, take note: if you're wooing this 'Modern Family' maven, you better bring your own kiddos to the table!
"I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother. So, if love comes along, he has to come with [his own] children. I’m almost in menopause; it’s the natural way of things," she added. "When my son becomes a dad, let him bring the baby to me for a while and then I’ll give it back to him and go on with my life; that’s what I have to do."
Sofia's future is in good hands
And now, Vergara has her sights set on changing her on screen persona. Her new film 'Griselda' looks to change the way we see her.
"Empowered women are trendy now, but 12 years ago when I was drawn to the story and wanted to produce it, not so much. That was precisely what appealed to me: that the boss was a woman who had to become worse than any man to be the best of them all."
"Griselda was a very badass woman… Women are not saints, [they’re not] perfect. The interesting and complex thing is that this woman had children, friends, employees. She was loyal to some and implacable with others," she continued. "She degenerated [as a result of] power, fear, ambition and insecurities. Just like a man. No more, no less."
Let's see if that logic applies to her personal life without Joe.

Back in July, the former power couple announced their "difficult decision" to part ways, pleading for privacy as they embarked on solo journeys. Just two days later, Manganiello slapped down the divorce papers, citing "irreconcilable differences." Ouch!
"As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives," they wrote.
Since the split, Manganiello's been cozying up with actress Caitlin O'Connor, while Vergara's been spotted with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman. But it's not all love and heartbreak for Vergara; she's been busy promoting her suncare brand, Toty, and stepping into the shoes of Griselda Blanco, the notorious drug cartel queenpin, in Netflix's 'Griselda'.
Let's see if the future has a reconciliation in store for these two!
A Woman's World Vergara's taking no prisoners with her portrayal of Blanco, a role she's been itching to play long before female antiheroes were all the rage. "Empowered women are trendy now," she mused, highlighting the gritty reality of a woman who had to out-monster the monsters to reign supreme.
