- Russell Crowe was refused entry at a restaurant
- He was in violation of the restaurant's rules
- The restaurant owner has spoken out as well
Actor Russell Crowe had an awkward run-in recently at a restaurant in Australia. The A-list star was actually refused service, and it all had to do with his appearance.
Seems the Gladiator actor and his girlfriend had been playing some tennis, and then wanted to grab a bite at a Japanese spot called Mr. Miyagi's.
But according to the New York Post, Crowe and his partner were turned away at the door!
Restaurant says no to Russell Crowe... in tennis gear
The "casual but fancy" restaurant denied the couple entry in their tennis outfits, as they violate the dress code.
The "slobby" Russell Crowe incident made headlines in Australia, and the restaurant owner even defended the decision to the Herald Sun.
Also interesting:
"We treat everyone the same," the restaurateur said. "It doesn't matter who you are or if you are Russell Crowe. We've got a dress code that we push across every level."
Apparently, the staff who turned away Russell Crowe didn't recognize the Oscar-winner, either. The business owner added that it was a "very unfortunate situation for everyone."
Tough break for Russell Crowe too. He's no doubt waiting for this news cycle to pass by...
