- Barbara Walters was once linked to Richard Pryor
- She was told of the rumour by a co-host
- 'The View' hosts recall the drama at the time
This is how Barbara Walters responded to Richard Pryor affair accusations
Former host of 'The View' Sherri Shepard was a guest at the roundtable on October 11th, and provided incredible insight into scandals from the past. One such incident was the time that Barbara Walters found out about the Richard Pryor romance speculation.
Sherri, who hosted 'The View' alongside Barbara and Joy Behar from 2007 to 2014, reminisced with Joy about the time gossip gone wrong.
"I never told this before, but I'm going to tell it. I told Joy that I had run into Paul Mooney, and Paul Mooney had said that he caught Barbara Walters with Richard Pryor," says Sherri Shepard.
Apparently, Joy couldn't keep a secret very long, and told Barbara about the rumour the very next day! Barbara Walters was not having it, and reacted by demanding where the rumour came from.
Also Interesting:
"She turned around - you know Barbara's head would swivel like that. She goes, 'Who told you that?' And I'm sitting there, like, I had just got this job. And Joy, you do that because you're not scared of Barbara," Sherri recalls.
Both Richard Pryor and Barbara Walters passed away without addressing the speculation. Only they will ever know if the rumours are true or not.
