Born on December 31, 1947, Tim Matheson is a seasoned actor and director. He is most likely best known for his role as "Eric "Otter" Stratton" in the comedy film Animal House. What else has Tim Matheson been up to?
Tim Matheson: The Animal House Star Today
After his role in the long-running Bonanza series, the career of a youthful Tim Matheson didn't slow down. In 1976, he starred in a new western series, The Quest, where he starred opposite of his former castmate, Bing Russell's, son Kurt Russell. His big break in film was in the comedy National Lampoon's Animal House with John Belushi, who he would also act with the following year in Steven Spielberg's 1941.

As he acted in a numerous amount of TV series and films throughout the '60s until the '90s, Matheson eventually found himself enjoying work behind the camera. From 1999-2006, Matheson both acted in and directed the hit drama series, The West Wing, which earned him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. From then on, he directed many more shows, including Cold Case, Criminal Minds, and White Collar... just to name a few.

In 2016, Tim portrayed Ronald Reagan in the television film, Killing Reagan, also starring Sex and the City's Cynthia Nixon. Because of this role, he was nominated for a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Movie/Miniseries. More recently, Matheson starred as "Doc Mullins" in Netflix's drama, Virgin River, and also had a recurring role as "Dave Malone" on the NBC series, This Is Us.
