These Stars Have Passed Away From COVID-19

Wonderama host Sonny Fox has passed away at the age of 95. Fox hosted the Sunday morning children's show Wonderama in the 1960s and as his official website confirms, he passed away on January 24th, 2021, in Los Angeles of COVID-19 related pneumonia. 

Sonny Fox was one of the era's most popular kid-show hosts and will be missed by all those who knew him. May he rest in peace. 

Dawn Wells has sadly passed away due to COVID-19. Born in Reno, Nevada, the actress who became famous for playing "Mary Ann" on Gilligan's Island died on Wednesday. During her lifetime, she appeared in countless television shows, films, and stage productions, also becoming an author and humanitarian. She was 82 years old. May she rest in peace.

Kenzo Takada, the designer who founded the Kenzo brand, passed away on Oct. 4. His family released a statement to French media, saying Takada died of COVID-19 complications at a hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. He was 81.

Takada was born in 1939 in Himeji, Hyōdo, Japan, later becoming a naturalized French citizen. He founded Kenzo, a French luxury fashion brand known for jungle-inspired designs, in 1970. Kenzo has been worn and promoted by A-list stars and top figures in the fashion world. "For half a century, Mr. Takada has been an emblematic personality in the fashion industry - always infusing creativity and color into the world," the brand wrote on Instagram after the founder's passing. Takada had retired from the fashion world in 1999, after which he worked as an artist. May he rest in peace. 

Tommy DeVito, a founding member of The Four Seasons, has passed away. He was 92. The New York Post reports that DeVito died of complications of COVID-19 on Sept. 21. DeVito sang and played lead guitar with The Four Seasons and the several groups that preceded it in the 1950s. For his work with the legendary group, DeVito was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 along with bandmates Frankie Valli, Nick Massi and Bob Gaudio. He also featured as a character in the Jersey Boys musical and Clint Eastwood's 2014 film adaptation of the Broadway production.

Surviving Four Seasons band members Valli and Gaudio released a statement, saying: "It is with great sadness that we report that Tommy DeVito, a founding member of The Four Seasons, has passed. We send our love to his family during this most difficult time. He will be missed by all who loved him."

Singer and actor, Trinidad "Trini" Lopez III, has succumbed to the coronavirus and passed away on August 11, 2020, at the age of 83. The accomplished singer was known for songs like "If I Had a Hammer" and "Lemon Tree." Lopez also launched an acting career and he starred in The Dirty Dozen, Marriage on the Rocks, and Antonio. His most recent album was released in 2011. May he rest in peace. 

The treasured Broadway actor Nick Cordero has passed away from COVID-19 related complications after being hospitalized for 95 days. Nick was an incredible Tony-nominated actor for his work on Bullets Over Broadway, A Bronx Tale, Waitress, and Rock of Ages. His wife Amanda Kloots made the tragic announcement on Instagram saying "God has another angel in Heaven now." He and Amanda had just welcomed their son Elvis last June. 

Nick and Scrubs star Zach Braff were also very close and Zach posted his heartbreak and promise to Nick, "The last thing he ever texted me was to look out for his wife and one year old son, Elvis. I promise the world they will never want for anything. I feel so incredibly grateful I got to have Nick Cordero enter my life. Rest In Peace. Rest in Power." Nick was only 41-years old.

Former member of Dream Street, Chris Trousdale, has reportedly died from COVID-19 at the age of 34. A statement to his Twitter read: "It is with a heavy heart that we confirm the passing of Chris Trousdale on June, 2, 2020 from an undisclosed illness. He was a light to so many and will be missed dearly by his family, friends and fans all over the world." TMZ reported that the singer died in a hospital in Burbank, California due to complications from the coronavirus.

Roy Horn, one half of the magic duo Siegfried and Roy has passed away from complications of the coronavirus on May 8, 2020. He was 75 years old. His partner in magic of many years of Las Vegas shows, Siegfried Fischbacher, made the following statement after the news of Roy's death: "Today, the world has lost one of the greats of magic, but I have lost my best friend. From the moment we met, I knew Roy and I, together, would change the world. There could be no Siegfried without Roy, and no Roy without Siegfried. Roy was a fighter his whole life including during these final days. I give my heartfelt appreciation to the team of doctors, nurses and staff at Mountain View Hospital who worked heroically against this insidious virus that ultimately took Roy's life." Our thoughts go out to all those who knew and loved Roy! 

Nigerian British rapper Ty has passed away at the age of 47. He contracted the coronavirus and was put in a medically-induced coma in April. The Guardian confirmed the news of the musician's death on May 7. Ty was born Ben Chijioke in London, England, on August 17, 1972. He was a star of the British hip-hop scene and was nominated for a Mercury Prize in 2004. His final release was a 2018 album titled A Work of Heart.

Country-folk singer and songwriter, John Prine, has passed away due to complications from the coronavirus at age 73. His family made the announcement on April 7, 2020 in Nashville. Prine was revered by many in the industry, including Bob Dylan and Kris Kristofferson. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him. May he rest in peace.
