Everyone has moments in their lives they'd prefer to forget. But, for celebrities, those moments happen in full view of the public eye. Unfortunately for Winona Ryder, her shoplifting arrest seems to be the best-remembered one from over the years. So let's get it out of the way to start with. Memorably, Ryder in 2001 was caught stealing over $5,000 worth of items from Saks Fifth Avenue. She was ultimately convicted for the crime. Ryder later admitted to have been dealing with mental health and prescription drug problems before the incident.

Another Hollywood icon who had a few brushes with the law was Farrah Fawcett. In the 1970s, the Charlie's Angels star was arrested for stealing clothing from boutiques on two occasions. Both times, Fawcett was convicted on charges of trespassing, according to CBS News.

Lindsay Lohan's list of troubles in the 2010s included an arrest for shoplifting. She was actually sentenced to 120 days in jail for stealing a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry shop in 2011.

Like Lindsay Lohan, former child star Amanda Bynes also encountered difficult days in adulthood. In 2014, she was accused of stealing a $200 hat from a Barneys New York, reported the New York Daily News. Bynes said she was trying to flee from fans before she was able to pay for the item. Rather than face charges, she agreed instead to never return to the store.

Star actress Megan Fox also opened up about shoplifting in her younger years. The Transformers star told Daily Express that as a teen she was caught stealing make-up from a Walmart. She got taken to court over the theft and, as punishment, had to wrap Christmas gifts as community service.

Comedian Amy Schumer has spoken out on her past problems with shoplifting. She confessed to regularly stealing for many years as a teenager until she was caught and arrested at age 21. Speaking to GQ, Schumer said she was glad to not serve jail time after the arrest, but she did not "remember" if she got a fine or community service for her crimes.

Country singer Lynn Anderson has one of the wilder celebrity shoplifting stories. In 2005, she was accused of stealing a Harry Potter DVD and then punching a police officer as she was being ushered into a police cruiser, according to Billboard. It wasn't the finest of moments for the former Grammy-winner.

Reality star Kim Richards was arrested in 2015 when she was caught shoplifting hundreds of dollars worth of items from a Target. She got a pretty tough sentence out of it: 36 months probation, 300 hours of community service, and mandatory attendance at 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

At the height of her troubled years, Britney Spears was accused of shoplifting on several occasions. In 2007, after shaving her head, Spears got caught stealing a wig from a Hollywood shop and a cigarette lighter from a gas station.
