The Young and the Restless "Victor" is a staple of the popular daytime soap opera! Originally a guest role, "Victor Newman" has transformed into the show's leading male figure!
When German-American actor, Eric Braeden, also known by his birth name Hans-Jörg Gudegast, joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in 1980, no one could have predicted the role would still be around in 2023!
The Young and the Restless "Victor"
Young and the Restless "Victor Newman" quickly became the show's favorite love-to-hate villain, and after his original 26-week contract was up, producers decided to bring the character into the show permanently! "Victor", a self-made business tycoon, rose to popularity as a villain who kidnaps his first wife's lover.
While despicable, "Victor" added much-needed flair and drama to the show–enough so that producers decided not to kill him off! Now over 40 years in, "Victor" is still a fan favorite and has been in an on-again-off-again relationship with "Nikki Newman" (Melody Scott Thomas) for over three decades!
