Putting all those rumours to rest, The Weeknd is making sure everyone knows there's no drama between himself and R&B icon, Usher!
The whispers of the two musicians being in a feud are apparently false, and The Weeknd credits Usher for being a huge inspiration for his own musical talents.
The Weeknd is setting it straight!
Despite rumours circulating that Usher and The Weeknd had beef, that's all been cleared up, thanks to the latest interview with Esquire, putting the Canadian born hip-hop artist on the cover!
The rumours all started when The Weeknd compared his work in Variety to that of Usher's when he heard the song "Climax."
"I heard 'Climax,' that Usher song, and was like, 'Holy f--k, that’s a Weeknd song,'" he said to the publication at the time.
"It was very flattering," he continued, "And I knew I was doing something right, but I also got angry. But the older I got, I realized it’s a good thing."
Following the interview, Usher posted a video to Instagram singing the song a capella, fuelling the rumours there was some bad blood. In his Esquire interview, The Weeknd confirmed that there wasn't any feud and that he even called the R&B singer to clear the air as he was aware his words could have been misinterpreted.
"I hit him up to apologize and tell him that it was misconstrued," he said.
"He’s one of the reasons why I make music," he praised. "I have nothing bad to say about Usher. The sweetest, most down-to-earth guy ever."
