Amy Jo Johnson's Rise To Fame
Amy Jo Johnson was born on October 6th, 1970 in Hyannis, Massachusetts to a humble family. When she was 18, she moved to NYC to pursue a career in acting and studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. She then moved to Los Angeles where she almost immediately landed her breakthrough role as "Kimberly Hart" a.k.a. the "Pink Ranger" in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! She was the original "Pink Ranger" from the very first Power Rangers series of the franchise!
The show was an incredible success and Amy Jo earned worldwide recognition but she and her castmates were compensated very little for their work. They were paid only $600 a week for their more than full-time filming, stunt work, and countless public appearances and promotions. None of the cast was even allowed to earn any royalty payments from the constant re-runs of their episodes.
Because the series was a non-union show, the cast was frequently injured and put in danger. Amy Jo was almost set on fire and electrocuted to the point where after a few seasons and two subsequent Power Rangers movies she decided to leave the franchise.
Amy Jo went on to star in Disney Channel's adorable film Susie Q as the titular "Susie" and was featured in Saved by the Bell: The New Class! She worked on many made-for-TV films like Perfect Body and Killing Mr. Griffin and the SyFy original Magma: Volcanic Disaster.
In 2008, she became a main cast member of the show Flashpoint. Amy Jo portrayed "Constable Jules Callaghan" of the Toronto Police Strategic Response Unit for which she was nominated for a Gemini Award. Amy Jo even went on to direct her own films, Bent and Lines, and eventually, the critically acclaimed feature film The Space Between in 2018 about a man who figures out his child is not actually his.

The film centers on an adult daughter trying to exploit her dysfunctional relationship with her mother who has terminal cancer but unfortunately "Tammy" continuously lives!
