Cameron Diaz in The Mask would launch her amazing career! With films like There's Something About Mary and Charlie's Angels, Cameron Diaz has become one of America's favorite sweethearts. Known for her strong beauty and extraordinary talent, here is a look at her best roles and where it all began- Cameron Diaz The Mask.
Cameron Diaz The Mask
Cameron Diaz The Mask: While she had no formal acting training, Cameron Diaz managed to wow producers in her first-ever audition and made her film debut in 1994's The Mask opposite comedian Jim Carrey! The dynamic duo would wow audiences as well and the film was a huge box-office success, thrusting Cameron into the spotlight as a sex symbol!
One of our all-time favorite Cameron Diaz films was 1998's There's Something About Mary. Taking on the titular role, the romantic comedy was a sleeper hit that went on to become the 4th highest-grossing film of the year! Critics also couldn't get enough of Diaz, and she was nominated for her first Golden Globe!
Perhaps the most famous role of Cameron Diaz's career, however, would come in 2000 when she was cast as one of the formidable angels in Charlie's Angels. Starring alongside Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu, audiences just couldn't get enough of the strong crime-fighting women, and the film became one of the highest-grossing of the year! In fact, it was so successful that there would be a sequel in 2003!
While she was at the pinnacle of her career, in 2017 Cameron Diaz announced her retirement from acting, stating exhaustion from all of the travel that comes with filming. Her last released film was in 2014 in the film adaptation of the popular children's musical Annie.
While we miss Cameron on the screen, we respect her decision as it has allowed her to spend more quality time with her husband, Good Charlotte singer Benji Madden and their daughter! We can only hope that she may one day return to acting, and we will forever remember her impressive career that started with Cameron Diaz in The Mask.
