Mel Giedroyc attended the independent Oxford High School, and later attended Trinity College, Cambridge, studying French and Italian.

Giedroyc was a presenter on Channel 4's RI:SE from 2002. She hosted with Sue Perkins the cookery competition The Great British Bake Off, on BBC Two from 16 August 2010. Later, in a newspaper interview, Giedroyc admitted that she did the show just for the money, informing readers that she had nearly gone bankrupt.

Mel Giedroyc today

Giedroyc is married to Ben Morris, a television director and teacher at LAMDA. As of most recently Giedroyc was the UK spokesperson for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. She also co-presented The Generation Game in 2018, once again with Sue Perkins. In 2017 until present, Giedroyc has been the presenter of Letterbox, and in 2017 she also co-hosted shows spanning from Let It Shine to Children In Need.

Since her time ended on The Great British Bake Off in 2016, Giedroyc has however hosted no major shows that can match the fame she received from The Great British Bake Off. Hopefully we'll see Giedroyc hosting another big show for us soon!
