Cierra Alexa Ramirez was born in Houston, Texas on March 9, 1995. She began her career as a performer when she was only 10 years old, regularly singing on the televised variety show Showtime at the Apollo. It was around this time that Ramirez decided she wanted to pursue acting as well!
The young star made guest appearances in shows like CSI: Miami, Zoey 101, and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. In 2012, she gained attention for playing "Ansiedad" in the comedy Girl in Progress— which she won an Imagen Award and ALMA Award for— and also had a recurring role as "Kathy" on the teen drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Ramirez landed her most known role to date in 2013, when she starred in The Fosters. Playing "Mariana Adams Foster," she was part of the main cast of the ABC drama, which centers on a lesbian couple and the complicated dynamics of their family. One of "Stef" and "Lena's" adopted kids, "Mariana" is 15 years old at the beginning of the series, and known to be a social butterfly who values popularity.
While The Fosters ended in 2018, Ramirez had the chance to reprise her role of "Mariana" a year later with the spinoff series Good Trouble! The series— which Ramirez is also credited as a producer for— focuses on her character's life post-graduation, as she and her sister "Callie" navigate the world of adulthood together. Good Trouble was successful and concluded in 2024 after 88 episodes!
Ramirez may mostly be known as an actress nowadays, but she's continued on with her singing career as well. In 2016, she released an EP called Discreet, which made the iTunes pop charts. And in 2020, she released her debut album, titled Over Your Head!
