The Best Movies Starring Amanda Seyfried

Born December 3, 1985, Amanda Seyfried would begin her career with modelling at the age of 11 making the switch to acting when she was cast in the popular soap opera As the World Turns in 1999. Playing the character of "Lucy Montgomery", Seyfried would stay with the series until 2001, which she followed with a stint on another hit soap, All My Children in 2003 before making her film debut in this next movie...

Amanda Seyfried would hit the jackpot with 2004's Mean Girls! While she originally auditioned to play "Regina George" and was also considered for the part of "Cady Heron", Seyfried would be cast into the part of the dim-witted "Plastic", "Karen Smith". The film was a huge success and would only be the beginning of a successful film career to come for Seyfried!

Amanda Seyfried's next big role would come with 2005's Nine Lives, a film series composed of nine short films. The part of "Samantha" was specifically written for Seyfried by director Rodrigo García, and Seyfried would win a Best Actress Award at the Locarno International Film Festival for her performance!

While Amanda Seyfried was a rising star following Mean Girls, her first lead role wouldn't come until 2008 when she was cast into the part of "Sophie Sheridan" in Mamma Mia!. Co-starring with Meryl Streep, the romantic comedy would really cause Seyfried's career to take off and was the fifth highest-grossing film of the year! The film was so successful, its sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, was released in 2018. 

While this next film wouldn't be as warmly received by critics, they did praise Amanda Seyfried for the energy and life she brought to the film. Even if critics didn't like 2010's film adaptation of the Nicholas Spark's romantic drama Dear John, fans felt otherwise, and the film would rise to number one in the box office, grossing over $115 million globally! 

2010 was full of film adaptations of books for Amanda Seyfried, and this next Lise and Ceil Freidman novel turned film would win both fans and critics over. Letters to Juliet was a huge success and combined with her performance in Dear John, Amanda Seyfried would find herself on Forbe's "The 17 Stars To Watch" list in 2010. 

Another fan-favorite Amanda Seyfried film is 2011's Red Riding Hood. Again in the leading role of the romance horror film, Seyfried is captivating from start to finish, and we just can't get enough of the talented and gorgeous actress!

Amanda Seyfried would also try her hand at Sci-Fi in 2011. Combining forces with the handsome Justin Timberlake, Seyfried would also see great success with In Time. The film may also be one of the only times we've seen Seyfried sport a different hair color—red is also stunning on her! 

2012 would prove to be another big year for Amanda Seyfried and she would star in one of our personal favorites, Les Misérables. For her part of the orphaned "Cosette", Seyfried would receive praise from fans and critics, and the film itself was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. 

Over the years, Amanda Seyfried has continued to excel in whatever role she takes on like as "Missy" in 2013's The Big Wedding and as the voice of "Mary Katherine" in 2013's animated fantasy, Epic.
