And he told 'Der Spiegel' what he was most afraid of. The actor describes his cancer as a "luck in misfortune". "It was stage 1 oral cancer. Metastases hadn't yet formed," he said. But during this time, one thing bothered him in particular. "I was never afraid of dying. But I was afraid I would never be able to taste anything again," Stanley confessed.

Stanley wants to make the best of his condition

The problem was that surgery could have done just that, so he decided against it. "I would have lost my sense of taste and smell [...]. I couldn't have enjoyed life anymore." Instead, he chose radiation and chemotherapy to combat the disease.
