Divorce is never easy, and much less so in Hollywood with the eyes of the world upon you. The duo, who tied the knot in a whimsical ceremony just shy of four years ago, are heading into the single life with the ink drying on the divorce papers. Unfortunately, they couldn't stick it out for the long haul.
The courts made it official
The Superior Court of California received the bombshell news on Thursday, with TMZ leading the charge in breaking the story. The court documents, which have become the talk of Tinseltown, reveal a separation date of December 22. Griffin, known for her no-holds-barred humor, didn't mince words when she cited "irreconcilable differences" as the culprit behind the split.
In a bold move that's got everyone's eyebrows raised, Griffin has asked the court to snip the possibility of spousal support for both parties. Talk about a clean break! She's also throwing down the gauntlet to enforce a premarital agreement dated December 23, 2019. Griffin's camp has been tight-lipped, with representatives keeping cards close to their chest.
The news comes just as the couple was gearing up to celebrate their fourth year of marital bliss—or not. Griffin took to Instagram with her signature blend of humor and candor, lamenting, "Well...s--t. This sucks."
Griffin and Bick were married in the early hours on Jan. 1, 2020, in what the pair, who had been dating since 2011, called a "surprise" wedding.
"The entire ceremony was just under 14 minutes," Griffin posted on social media at the time. "We promised you atypical. We are in love and we cannot stop laughing." The whole thing was officiated by Lily Tomlin, and Griffin wore a short-sleeved white gown with a black ribbon around the waist, which, she wrote on social media, she had worn on her and Bick’s first date in 2011, and he chose that dress for the ceremony.
"I asked Randy to pick out which ever one of my long dresses was his favorite for any reason," she wrote on Twitter (now known as X). "He picked out this dress and showed me this photo [of their first date]. Romance is hotttt again."
Griffin was previously married to Matt Moline from 2001-2006, and he appeared on her reality show, 'My Life on the D-List.'

In recent years, she’s opened up about her battles with lung cancer and drug addiction, with the latter leading to a suicide attempt. This June, she performed a sold-out show in Las Vegas, her first in five years.
"You guys, I’m so f*ing grateful to this audience. I still can’t get over it. My first show in five long years!" she wrote on a video she posted to social media.
"I don’t have an agent, manager or publicist anymore. My husband is my tour manager and I negotiated the deal myself. No deal for a special or livestream of it, but the show was sold out because real, live people actually showed up! After an international political scandal and surviving lung cancer, I finally felt like I was home."
