Born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. on October 20th, 1971 in Long Beach, California, Snoop's iconic rap name came from the cartoon character "Snoopy", which his parents nicknamed him because of his looks. After high school (which he attended with Cameron Diaz!), he had been recording mixtapes with his cousin, Nate Dogg.
The Beginnings for Snoop Dogg
Snoop originally kick-started his career in 1992 with the help of the legendary Dr. Dre, who discovered his talents and featured him on one of his albums.
Snoop Dogg: Platinum Level
With the help of his rap mentor, Snoop released his first solo album in 1993, Doggystyle, which sold nearly a million copies within its first week of release. Already with this first album, it had become certified quadruple platinum by 1994. His second album, Tha Doggfather, was released in 1996 and became certified double platinum in 1997. His biggest award in 1997: the marriage to the love of his life, Shante Taylor. They are still together to this day.

From 1998 to 2011, Snoop released a total of nine albums! These included Tha Last Meal, R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta), and Doggumentary to name a few. On top of his consistent production of albums, he also starred and continues to star in various television shows such as, Dogg After Dark, Coach Snoop, and Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party. His series with Martha Stewart is so popular that Snoop created a cookbook to go along with his new recipes called From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg's Kitchen. What can't he do?

On November 19th, 2018, Snoop Dogg finally received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was surrounded by his biggest fans: his wife, Dr. Dre, and Quincy Jones. Over the years, Snoop has been nominated a whopping 96 times, having won 27 of these awards.
Snoop Dogg Today: Partnerships with Adidas and Netflix
Recently, Snoop has collaborated with the hip-hop group, Higher Brothers, to create the title track for Netflix’s series, Wu Assassins, which premiered on Netflix in 2019!
He also has his new football cleat line with none other than Adidas! He's always been an avid football fan, even helping coach his son's football team. This strikingly gold cleat is otherwise known as the SnoopCleat Adizero 8.0.
His recent album release was in 2021, titled From tha Streets 2 tha Suites, which was his eighteenth studio album! We're excited to see what other adventures he will add to his impressive resume!
