The film world lost a legend when Sidney Poitier died back on January 7, 2022.
Poitier passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 94. Initially, it was not known how he died, but Poitier's death certificate confirmed he had several health problems in his final days.

TMZ has released Poitier's death certificate, which notes he died from combined causes of heart failure, Alzheimer's dementia, and prostate cancer.
Poitier passed on at his home in LA, and the sad news was first announced by Fred Mitchell, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bahamas.
Poitier was born in 1927 in Miami, Florida, to Bahamian parents. He would go on to break new ground as a Black actor in Hollywood.
In 1964, he became the first Black man to win the Oscar for Best Actor, for his film Lilies of the Field.
He also received the prestigious Academy Honorary Award in 2002 for his life's work.
