It's all very unfortunate. Scheffler was charged with "second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic," as NBC News reports. The 27-year-old golfer was later released and returned to Valhalla Golf Club.
Scottie is remorseful
He quickly responded to the incident to the press. Scheffler says that the incident was the result of a misunderstanding following a fatal accident at the club earlier that day. Round 2 was first delayed after a man was struck and killed by a shuttle bus at 5 a.m.
