Shakira and Gerard Piqué made big headlines with their separation and the associated drama. Now, a year later, the singer reveals intimate details surrounding that time.
Shakira experienced two tragedies at once
She revealed to 'People en Español' that, in addition to the separation, another blow occurred. Her father William Mebarak Chadid came to Barcelona to comfort his daughter, but then he was seriously injured in an accident.
"My world collapsed. Through the press I learned that I had been betrayed while my father was in intensive care," Shakira recalls.
The time was so stressful that Shakira thought she would "not survive". "The man I loved the most in my life, my father, was leaving me when I needed him the most," says the singer.
During the healing process, Shakira's mother was by his side. "My father is the best example of resilience, and my mother was by his side day and night. They are both the reflection of a dream that did not come true for me," Shakira says sadly.
