Rising Legal Challenges for Sean "Diddy" Combs

Sean "Diddy" Combs, the renowned music mogul, is confronting two new civil lawsuits from anonymous male accusers who allege they were sexually assaulted by him during auditions in their youth. These claims are part of an increasing number of legal challenges facing Combs, who is currently in custody in New York as he awaits a criminal trial. The lawsuits add to the 27 civil cases Combs is already battling.

One of the accusers, identified as John Doe, alleges that he was only 10 years old when he auditioned for Combs in 2005 at a New York hotel. According to the lawsuit, Combs provided him with a soda allegedly spiked with drugs and then coerced him into performing oral sex. The lawsuit details that Doe lost consciousness and later regained awareness in a state of distress, with his clothing disheveled and experiencing pain.

In a separate lawsuit, another John Doe claims he was 17 when he attended a three-day audition for Combs' MTV competition series, 'Making the Band,' in or around 2008.

During a one-on-one interview, Combs allegedly posed hypothetical questions about sexual pressure and proceeded to assault the accuser by touching him inappropriately and instructing him to undress. The lawsuit states that Combs emphasized his power in the music industry, asserting he could "make or break" Doe's career.

Escalating Incidents and Legal Proceedings

The second day of the audition allegedly saw Combs demanding the 17-year-old to strip to demonstrate a 'sex idol' persona, which escalated into forced sexual acts. The following day, the lawsuit claims, Combs and his bodyguard assaulted Doe again, leading to the accuser's elimination from the competition due to his reluctance to comply with Combs' demands.

Combs' legal team has dismissed these allegations as unfounded.

When reached by CNN for comment, Combs’ attorneys did not respond to the specific allegations in the two new lawsuits, but denied that Combs has ever sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone.

"As we’ve said before, Mr. Combs cannot respond to every new publicity stunt, even in response to claims that are facially ridiculous or demonstrably false," Combs’ attorneys said in a statement, in part. "Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process.  In court, the truth will prevail:  that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor."

These lawsuits, filed in New York state court, are part of a broader legal battle involving over two dozen civil cases against Combs since November 2023. The initial lawsuit, brought by his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, was settled rapidly, but other cases remain active. Combs has consistently denied all civil allegations.

He has pleaded not guilty to federal charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. His criminal trial is set for May 2025, with ongoing investigations potentially leading to further charges.
