Rooger Moore KBE was an English actor, who made his mark on the world of entertainment in the role of the British secret agent "James Bond" from 1973 until 1985. Before his time as "007", he starred in the TV show The Saint as "Simon Templar" as well as in the hit show The Persuaders alongside the legendary Tony Curtis.
After his time as the famous MI-6 agent "James Bond", Moore took a five-year hiatus from acting. Some minor roles in movies followed in the 1990's, but Moore also did a lot of humanitarian work in this post-"Bond" era. In 1991, he became an UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, after being inspired by his friend, the late Audrey Hepburn. He also actively supported PETA.
In 2003, Moore was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to charity. In 2007, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work in television and film. The legend that was Roger Moore died surrounded by his family in his home in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, on May 23 2017 after battling prostate cancer. He was survived by his three children.
