Robert Irwin continues family legacy with "Irwin's Turtles"
In 1990, iconic animal expert and conservationist, Steve Irwin, discovered a rare species of turtle. Now, over 30 years after his dad's initial discovery, Robert Irwin (19) is continuing the family legacy with the aptly named "Irwin's Turtle".
Robert shared a video on his Instagram account in which he is celebrating some big news. He is the first person to successfully breed these turtles! In the video, you can see Robert get emotional about the new development.
"Wow. This was a special moment. I think Dad would be pretty proud that we’ve become the first to successfully breed the turtle that he discovered. A rare, and unique species under threat in the wild has just been given a second chance," says Robert.
With his dad's discovery and his continued research and progress, and entire species of turtle will now survive because of one spectacular family.
