Rihanna wants fans to know that her new album is still in the works, and won't be out for a while still! During an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight's Rachel Smith, the singer, actress, and entrepreneur explained why it's taking some time for her to release it.
Rihanna says fans won't be "disappointed" with her new music
Rihanna said the reason that the album— which her fans have referred to as "R9"— isn't out yet is because she's not ready to share it! "I am always working on music," she told Smith over video. "I am always working on music and when I am ready to put it out in the way that I feel fit, it's gonna come out. And you're not going to be disappointed when it happens. It's going to be worth it."
Even though it's been 4 years since Rihanna released her last studio album, Anti, she made it clear that she doesn't want to rush the process of releasing her next one! "I'm not just gonna put it out just because people are waiting," she went on to say. "It's taken this long, I'm gonna make it worth it."
Rihanna says she's "grateful" to have the career that she does
Rihanna's first-ever single, the reggae-infused "Pon De Replay," was released 15 years ago! And as Entertainment Tonight points out, it's also been 10 years since she dropped both "What's My Name" and her collab with rapper Eminem, "Love The Way You Lie."
"I'm 10 years older, I'm 15 years older. I thought that was just a few years ago, now it's like a decade plus," she said jokingly while looking back on her career so far. "THAT is what I think about! But I'm also really grateful to still be here and being able to expand into other ventures. I'm grateful. It's been fun and I can't even complain."
Rihanna wants Fenty Skin to be "simple" and "accessible"
Rihanna's next album may not be coming out for some time, but she released a new song called "Believe It" with PartyNextDoor in March! She also has a brand-new line of skincare called Fenty Skin, set to be released on July 31. During her interview with Entertainment Tonight, Rihanna also opened up about her hopes for the beauty brand.
"We want these products to work for all skin types and, of course, all skin tones," she said. "I want these things to be different from anything that is on the market. I want it to be simple. I want it to be accessible, but still with the high level of ingredients that some of these other brands do but they're so expensive."
Rihanna says her skincare line consists of "three simple steps"
Rihanna shared that she's learned that beauty products don't have to be expensive to be good quality! "I realized that you can actually make the best product and it does not have to be inaccessible," she said. "Three simple steps, and from there we take them on a journey throughout their skincare."
Earlier in the year when Rihanna was asked about her upcoming album, she gave a very similar answer to the one she gave Smith! "I am very aggressively working on music," she said, mentioning that her new album would have "no boundaries." It's clear that her stance hasn't changed, and when "R9" is eventually released, we're sure it will be worth the wait!
