Ricky Martin: His Career Highlights

Enrique Martín Morales embarked on his career at the tender age of 12 as a member of the prosperous youth group Menudo. He remained with the group for a little over seven years, from 1983 to 1990.

While Ricky had already made a name for himself in Latin America with Menudo and his solo projects, it wasn't until the late nineties that he truly achieved international fame. This breakthrough came with his iconic song "La copa de la vida," which served as the official theme song for the 1998 World Cup in France.

Ricky Martin's major breakthrough came in 1998 with the success of his album 'Vuelve,' which became a hit. His World Cup anthem, "The Cup of Life," topped the charts, catapulting him to international fame and opening up numerous opportunities in his career.

In 1998, Ricky released his fourth studio album, 'Vuelve,' which went on to win a Grammy Award the following year in the category of Best Latin Pop Album. This achievement solidified his position as 'the king of Latin pop.'

Thanks to the international success he achieved in the last two years, Ricky decided to pivot his music career by releasing songs in English and embarking on a global tour. It was during this period that he dropped hits like "Livin' la Vida Loca" and "She Bangs".

In the subsequent years, Ricky Martin consistently delivered hit songs in both languages and forged collaborations with prominent artists, including Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.

In 2006, Ricky joined the charts when invited by MTV to perform an unplugged concert featuring new songs and adaptations of his hits. The concert was a massive success, prompting him to organize another world tour. Additionally, he continued to accumulate awards and nominations at major industry ceremonies.

After a successful tour and a collaborative album with Eros Ramazzotti in Italian, Ricky took a hiatus. In 2008, he joyfully welcomed his twins, Valentino and Matteo, born through surrogacy.

In 2013, Ricky Martin ventured into children's literature, releasing his first book titled 'Santiago the Dreamer in Land Among the Stars,' inspired by his journey into fatherhood. The book became a successful saga in the United States. Concurrently, he expanded his role as a coach, participating in 'The Voice Australia' a year after his coaching stint on 'The Voice Mexico'.

In 2016, Ricky Martin started dating painter Jwan Yosef. They tied the knot the following year and joyously welcomed two beautiful babies, Lucia and Renn.
However, in 2023, the couple announced their separation.
