- Luke Combs is giving a fan some money back
- The gesture comes after a mistaken lawsuit
- HERE is how Luke described the whole thing
In a twist that's got fans buzzing, Combs found himself in the eye of a legal storm, and he's not standing by idly. The star was "sick to my stomach" to discover that Nicol Harness, a devoted fan, was slapped with a jaw-dropping $250,000 lawsuit for selling drink tumblers featuring his likeness.
Luke is making things right!
Harness, who was reeling from a hospital stay for congestive heart failure, was blindsided by the lawsuit, which she stumbled upon in her spam folder. "It's very stressful. I don't have money to pay my bills," she expressed, her distress palpable. But here's where the story takes a heartwarming turn!
Combs, upon catching wind of the legal action from a tearful TV news clip, didn't miss a beat. He reached out with a personal apology and a promise to send $11,000 – that's double the amount frozen in Harness's account post-ruling. Talk about a country hero!
Combs addressed the situation in a video posted to TikTok Wednesday after Nicol Harness's online shop selling handmade gifts was sued by a company connected to the country music star.
"I woke up to use the restroom, and the first thing I saw was this," Combs said. "I’ve spent the last two hours trying to make this right … because I was completely and utterly unaware of this."

The "Fast Car" hitmaker didn't stop there. He's now selling his own tumblers, with all proceeds going to Harness. "So apologetic" was Combs that he extended an invitation to Nicol and her family to a show, eager to offer a hug and an in-person sorry.
It was all a big mix-up
"We have a company that goes after folks... making counterfeit T-shirts, things of that nature, running illegal businesses," Combs explained, clarifying that the lawsuit was meant for big-time counterfeiters, not a fan like Nicol. "And apparently this woman Nicol has got somehow wrapped into that, and that makes me absolutely sick to my stomach."
The woman's shop was included in a lawsuit filed on behalf of Combs targeting the illegal sale of merchandise using his image and likeness, according to WFLA. Nicol Harness of Tampa had only sold 18 Luke Combs-themed Tumblers when she was hit with the lawsuit.
In Illinois, defendants can be served lawsuits via email, and Harness's ended up in in a spam mailbox, according to WFLA.
Before she even realized she'd been sued, Harness claimed a judge had already ruled, and she owed Combs $250,000. All future sales from her Amazon store would go to Combs until she paid off the $250,000, the outlet reported.
Amid the legal drama, Harness had recently returned home from a hospital stay due to congestive heart failure. Combs has since reached out to Harness and apologized for what seemed like a misunderstanding.

In a season where the spirit of giving is in the air, Combs's gesture has struck a chord with fans and onlookers alike. "No fan should ever have to be involved in anything like this," Combs stated, proving that for him, it's not about the money, but the music and the people who love it.
And so, it all ends well.
He said, "I was completely shocked when I saw this. It makes me sick. This is not something that I would ever do. It's not the kind of person I am."
Kudos to Luke for making the situation right. His down-to-earth personality is what makes him beloved by his legions of fans. As the story of a country star's kindness goes viral, it's a reminder that sometimes, the most powerful hits come straight from the heart.
