Big Pokey is credited with elevating the city's hip-hop scene, but fans were left shocked at a recent performance. The rapper died after collapsing during a show in Texas, as a local official said on Monday.

An autopsy is still pending to figure out an exact cause of death for the rapper. He was 48 when he passed. Powell was a member of Houston's rap collective Screwed Up Click that was formed by the late DJ Screw.
