Born March 26th, 1981 to Punjabi Sihk immigrants in London, Jay Sean was destined for music. He knew early on his passion was for music, even dropping out of medical school to pursue his dream.
His first taste of fame was on his collaboration with Rishi Rich for the song "Dance With You" which became a Top 20 UK hit. This hit led him to his £1 Million deal with Virgin Records, and since then his fate has been sealed.
His sound was very experimental and meshed together R&B, Hip-Hop, and Indian music. The blend was extremely successful as his first album sold 100,000 copies in the UK and over 2 million copies in India.
From Virgin to Cash Money Records
After leaving Virgin Records Sean debuted his album My Own Way which featured "Ride it" and "Maybe" the chart toppers that lead him to sign with Cash Money Records. Once he was attached to Birdman's label, his fame reached new heights. With Cash Money he finally hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for his single "Down" featuring his label-mate Lil Wayne!
He features on countless songs for well-known artists like Sean Paul, Risk Ross, Pitbull, Gucci Mane, and Afrojack. He continues to produce music, and tour today.

- When he was 11, Jay Sean and his cousin made a hip-hop duo "Compulsive Disorder".
- He went to the same private school as Hugh Grant, Heston Blumenthal and Lily Cole.
- He married singer Thara! The two have been married since 2009 and have two adorable children.
- Once while encouraging students to get involved in music, he met young Zayn Malik and encouraged him to sing on stage for the first time!
