Born in Syracuse, New York, in 1969, Thom Filicia is best known for serving as the interior design expert in the Emmy-Award-winning television show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, where he appeared from 2003 to 2007. The show featured a group of gay professionals in the fields of fashion (Carson Kressley,) personal grooming (Kyan Douglas), interior design, food and wine (Ted Allen,) and culture (Jai Rodriguez,) aka the "Fab Five," who offer advice to people who need help in terms of changing personal habits. 

In 1998 the television star founded his New York City-based design firm called Thom Filicia, Inc., and as of today he is considered to be one of the greatest contemporary interior designers. Thom Filicia, who has hosted several television shows including Dress My Nest and Tacky House, has an impressive career! His design portfolio includes amazing projects like the VIP Suite for the USA Pavilion at the World's Fair in Aichi, Japan; Manhattan's first premium (LEED certified) eco-friendly apartment; as well as the design of the holiday decoration for the Radio City Music Hall.

Most recently, the talented designer was part of another exciting project alongside architects Gisue and Mojgan Hariri. Together they created the Smart Hudson Valley Retreat, a smart country house located three hours away from New York City, which consists of living and dining areas, a kitchen, a master bedroom, guest room, and garage. The house can be managed by pushing buttons from a Manhattan-based office.
