Priscilla Presley: "No one could ever match him"
Priscilla Presley (78) has finally spilled the beans on her decision to remain unmarried after her split from rock music legend, Elvis Presley. During a recent Q&A event at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, she confirmed the long-standing rumour that she vowed to never remarry as long as Elvis was alive.
"I just don't think that he could handle that," she confessed, referring to her late ex-husband, to whom she was married from 1967 to 1973. Despite Elvis' death in 1977, Priscilla has kept her promise for over four decades. "To be honest with you, I never wanted to marry after him. I never had any desire. No one could ever match him," she declared.
Priscilla also shed light on why she and Elvis didn't have more children after their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, was born in 1968. "Elvis felt he had a very busy schedule and he did have a bit of guilt that he wasn't around that much when Lisa was younger," she shared. "With his scheduling and his touring, he just felt he wasn't around enough to give a lot of attention to having another child".
In a separate interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, Priscilla admitted that Elvis' sudden death at age 42 still impacts her deeply. She recalled the moment when Elvis' road manager, Joe Esposito, broke the tragic news to her. "I can still hear Joe Esposito's words, ‘Cilla, Elvis is dead’, and that was like, I just couldn't imagine him ever, especially at his age and all, still so young and wanting to do so much and had so much planned, and not having him, not talking to him, not having him be the father of our child," she told Morgan.

Priscilla also reminisced about Elvis' captivating presence and sharp sense of humour. She fondly remembered the "Jailhouse Rock" singer's spontaneous acts of generosity, such as buying a brand new blue Cadillac for a woman he saw at a car dealership in Memphis.
The story of Elvis and Priscilla's romance is chronicled in the new biopic 'Priscilla', directed by Sofia Coppola, which premiered in theatres on Friday. Priscilla praised Coppola for her honest portrayal of her personal story.
