• The 2023 CMAs were hosted
  • Post Malone performed THIS medley
  • The night was full of highlights

Malone was brilliant. Alongside country stars Morgan Wallen and Hardy, Malone showcased a medley of Nineties country songs by the late Joe Diffie, including hits like "John Deere Green" and "Pickup Man." The choice to perform Diffie's songs is tied to Hardy's new mixtape, HIXTAPE Vol. 3: DIFFTAPE.

This album unites Wallen and Malone with Hardy, featuring updated versions of Diffie's classics. Diffie, a pillar of traditional country music, tragically passed away in 2020 at 61 due to Covid-19 complications.

Post Malone gave fans a nice surprise

Despite being a rapper, Malone fits into the country genre like a well-worn boot. In recent years, he's covered contemporary country songs and stone-cold classics alike, proving his versatility and love for the genre. Malone, who released his fifth studio LP, Austin, in July, has been making the most of his time in Nashville during CMA Awards week. He's been spotted in the studio with various country stars, sparking rumors of new collaborations.

Post Malone is set to take his country tribute act to the live stage next year at 2024’s Stagecoach festival in Indio, California. He'll be joining headliners like Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, and Morgan Wallen, promising an unforgettable performance.

Fans were also happy to see how much weight he has lost. The rapper and singer, 28, showed up in style to country music's biggest night as he walked the red carpet at in Nashville, Tennessee. The "Dial Drunk" crooner was practically dripping with cool as he cleaned up in a black suit, accessorized with a silver bolo tie and a cowboy hat to add a little extra country flair.

Malone appeared to be all smiles in the red carpet shots, while he beamed with confidence after losing a significant amount of weight over the past year. At first fans were concerned but then Post cleared any worries up with an Instagram post.

"Hello everybody, I hope you're having a great night. i wanted to say that i'm not doing drugs. i’ve had a lot of people ask me about my weight loss and i’d suppose, performance on stage," he wrote in the caption, before clarifying that he has "never felt healthier" than he does now.

Also interesting:

The reason, he explained, had everything to do with the birth of his first child, after he welcomed a baby girl with his fiancée in May 2022. He does look better than ever now.

Life looks pretty great for Malone today. His CMA performance will live long in the memory. And the night had other big highlights as well, including Tracy Chapman becoming the first black woman to receive the award. The accolade came for her iconic song, "Fast Car," which won Song of the Year, a whopping 35 years after its initial release!
