- Pink and Britney Spears are music superstars
- Spears is divorcing Sam Asghari
- THIS is how Pink showed her support
Pink is known for being vocal, both in favor of, and against many things on stage. During the Detroit stop of her marathon Summer Carnival Tour on Wednesday night, the pop star tweaked the lyrics of her 2001 single "Don't Let Me Get Me" to honor Spears, who is divorcing Sam Asghari. The tiny little tribute made fans very emotional online.
"Tired of being compared to sweet Britney Spears," Pink sang, making a slight change to the song's original words. "Tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears / She’s so pretty, that just ain’t me.") In a fan video uploaded to social media, you can hear concertgoers going "aww" when Pink sings the new lyric! For a while, many thought that she and Britney had a beef.
Pink wants to comfort Britney
Britney Spears is no stranger to negative headlines. Pink has frequently defended Spears in interviews, squashing any rumors of bad blood between the two artists. Perhaps her most infamous personal problem was Spears' conservatorship. Following a very public legal battle, Spears was freed from it in November 2021 after nearly 14 years.
The "Gimme More" singer was placed under the legal arrangement in 2008, which gave her father, Jamie Spears, control over her life and finances.
Also interesting:
"People think I was picking on Britney on 'Don't Let Me Get Me,' but I've always felt like a big sister to her. I'm very protective of her, and she's the sweetest person in the world," Pink told 'People' magazine. "I felt sad that back then, I didn’t know. I don’t like feeling helpless or powerless, and I can only imagine how she feels. She could’ve used some support. The media tore her apart, the paparazzi are scum. I wish I could’ve reached out and given her a hug," Pink confessed.
And now that Britney is going through a divorce, Pink wants to publicly show her support as a friend. It's a small gesture, but it's a very one nice that is sure to be remembered by Britney for many years to come! The legal proceedings for her divorce are all but final, so she is going to need all the support she can get.
