- Comedian Pete Davidson is very busy on stage
- But he recently cancelled some upcoming shows
- THIS is what we know
The "King of Staten Island" himself has left fans in a lurch, canceling not one, but TWO stand-up performances at the iconic Beacon Theatre in New York City. The news hit the streets just two hours before showtime on December 22, leaving ticket holders dazed, confused, and out of a night's entertainment.
Pete suddenly packed his bags
An email sent hours before showtime to ticketholders gave the notice.
"Please be advised that the Pete Davidson performances scheduled to take place at the Beacon Theatre on Fri, Dec 22 and Sat, Dec 23 have been canceled," the email said. Anyone who bought tickets will be refunded automatically.
Davidson has publicly struggled with his mental health and substance abuse. In the past, he has checked in rehabs for a “tune-up,” including earlier this year. But he rebounded to host the season opening of 'Saturday Night Live' in October.
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust piped up too, announcing the axing of Pete's January 2 show due to "unforeseen circumstances." What's going on with our favorite funny man?
Rewind to earlier this year, when Pete checked into rehab, battling PTSD and borderline personality disorder. But that's not all folks! He stirred up a storm with PETA's Daphna Nachminovitch, leaving a voicemail that had everyone gasping.
Pete's passion for his hypoallergenic cavapoo puppy purchase over adoption had PETA barking up a storm, but Pete barked back, claiming he needed a specific breed due to allergies. TMZ got the scoop, with Pete stating that finding such a dog for adoption "wasn't an option, and if it was, it was rare."
Flash forward to November, and Pete's in the headlines again, this time for a cell phone clash. Mid-performance at NYC's City Winery, Pete caught an audience member filming and exploded with a "F–k you!" He wasn't clowning around, folks!
His security showed the perpetrator the door, with Pete revealing his $10,000 investment to secure the audience's phones in Yondr pouches. No sneak peeks on his watch!
Crash Course in Comedy!
Pete's not just making waves on stage; he's had a bumpy ride offstage too. Remember that March car crash with ex-flame Chase Sui Wonders? Pete turned the mishap into a punchline, joking about his newfound sobriety and a cheeky plan to snag "good press" by signing up for Make-A-Wish.
All this after crashing into a Beverly Hills home and earning himself a reckless driving charge plus community service and traffic school.
But his path in stand up comedy is starting to take flight. In January 2019, it was announced that Davidson would be touring with John Mulaney in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts for a limited series of comedy shows titled 'Sundays with Pete & John.'
And now, he was off on his very own tour.
Also interesting:
Pete Davidson has got quite a few projects lined up for the near future, including 'The Home' and 'Riff Raff' which should be coming out next year. His star on the stand up comedy stage is hitting a lot of peaks, although he has been in the news for dating some very beautiful and high-profile women in recent years.
This will likely take some explanation, although the most probable cause is that there was a personal emergency for him to deal with. Through it all, Pete's had a wild ride, from 'Guy Code' to 'SNL' fame, not to mention his headline-grabbing romances and breakups. He's the comedy world's rollercoaster, and we're all just along for the ride!
