One of the most popular shows on CBS in the 1950s was ‘December Bride’, starring Spring Byington as “Lily Ruskin,” a widow, and her neighbor, Harry Morgan as “Pete Porter”. Morgan’s character would often complain about her not-so-smart wife Gladys, who never appeared on the show.

In 1960, a year after ‘December Bride’s last episode, ‘Pete and Gladys’ aired for the first time on September 19th. Although the show only had two seasons it was considered a success. Here we saw the life of “Pete Porter” and her wife “Gladys Porter”, played by Cara Williams. Although these two were the main characters many others were part of the show.
