Paul Rudd gave some voters a surprise treat when he turned up to show his appreciation for them! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Rudd made a special appearance out on the streets of New York on Thursday, as he went around handing out cookies to those waiting in line to vote.
Rudd stayed safe while showing his appreciation
Rudd made sure to observe health and safety protocol while performing his random act of kindness! Wearing a mask, he distributed the cookies to those he saw waiting outside in the rain to cast their ballots.
"I wanted to say thank you for coming out and for voting, and for doing your part," the actor explains of his handing out baked goods in a Twitter video, which was posted by former basketball player Rex Chapman.
Rudd says he feels voting should be more accessible
Rudd's thoughtful treat for voters quickly went viral across social media! As Entertainment Tonight reports, the Ant-Man star happened to cross paths with several fans, as well as digital news organization NowThis News. "It should not be hard to vote. People should be getting the day off from work, polling places should be everywhere. This should be easy, not hard," Rudd told the outlet.
"Anyone who is waiting in line deserves to be kind of, I think, thanked, and encouraged, and recognized," he continued. "One of the things that's been really encouraging is seeing how many people are coming out early and voting, all across the country."
Rudd has an established history with sweet treats in the Big Apple, seeing as he happens to own a candy shop there! He's also one of the latest celebrities to speak out about the importance of democracy, emphasizing its importance with the U.S. election now less than one week away!
